Safe Food Sampling at Minnesota Farmers' Markets

(Food Safety Required But No License Needed!)

MFMA helped pass the Safe Food Sampling at Farmers' Market Law in 2014. Anyone can now sample food - or do cooking demos - at a Minnesota farmers' market without a license, as long as certain food safety requirements are met.

The University of Minnesota Extension Food Safety Team has compiled training videos and materials to help everyone meet the food safety requirements. Check out UME's Food Safety web page for the training - and enjoy offering food samples at your market this year!
